After the classical junior cycle, students prepare to sit the Irish Leaving Certificate at Mater Dei Academy in Cork.

Continuing the journey

The senior cycle at Mater Dei Academy

At the end of the junior cycle, students are welcome to continue the senior cycle at Mater Dei Academy in Cork to sit the Leaving Certificate. By then, they will already be familiar with the school community, having been part of it for several years.

Beginning in 2nd Year, and every first week of the school year thereafter, Mater Dei Education students join the Mater Dei Academy students for the opening week of schoolwork. They also take part together in school tours, Gaeltacht stays, and end-of-year exams in Mater Dei Academy.

Students join the Academy having already been part of its community for several years through the junior cycle.

Shared school life

Opening weeks of the school year, school tours and Gaeltacht stays are shared with Academy students from 2nd Year on.

Fifth and Sixth Year are dedicated to preparation for the Irish Leaving Certificate examination.
